Back by extremely popular demand, it’s Chickens 101!
This class is designed as an introduction to backyard chicken-raising. We’ll cover the basics of shelter, food, water, and general health. There will be plenty of time for questions. Whether you’re brand new to poultry husbandry or looking to brush up on your existing knowledge, this class is always a blast!
Instructor: Heath Ward of CityChick brings a delightful passion to the art and science of raising chickens and has accumulated a lifetime’s worth of experiences that he readily shares with his audiences and customers. CityChick offers comprehensive services including education, supplies and feed, equipment, coops, and chickens! Yes, you read that right – you can rent chickens. Whether for a summer project or just to get your feet wet before making a full commitment, Heath can help you select the set-up that’s just right for you.
Register: The cost of the class is $15 for the general public and $10 for members of Homestead Atlanta (please bring proof of membership on the day of the class). Space is limited. Details: The class will be held outdoors here at the nursery. Please dress for the weather (sunscreen, hats, and sun glasses are strongly recommended), and feel free to bring snacks and beverages. In the event of dangerous or exceptionally inclement weather, the class will be rescheduled. We’ll call you the morning of the event to alert you of scheduling changes.
