An Intro to Gardening Class with Halley Beagle
Saturday, March 18 — 11:00am
$10 – registration required
If you’re new to gardening (or new to Atlanta’s unique climate) or looking to brush up on the basics of planting, this class is for you. We’ll start with an introduction to plant biology (nothing too complicated, we promise!) then move on to terminology (demystifying terms such as “cold hardy,” “part shade,” “woody perennial,” “herbaceous,” and other horticultural jargon). From there we’ll discuss tips for determining soil and light conditions and selecting plants that are appropriate for different types of environments.
We’ll also provide insight on how to navigate a garden center like a pro, how to pick the healthiest plants, and what questions to ask to ensure you’re getting the most appropriate plant for your needs.
Instructor: Garden*Hood’s own Halley Beagle. Halley shares practical, hands-on advice learned through years of experience nurturing plants in public spaces, community gardens, and her own personal landscape in Decatur.
Register: The cost of the class is $10. Space is limited. Purchase tickets by clicking the Pay Pal BUY NOW button below or by calling Garden*Hood at 404-880-9848.
